Fraser Island is the biggest sand island in the world, so naturally all of its roads are made of sand. This sandy environment over many different types of habitats creates the ideal environment for the four wheel drive enthusiast to test out their new set of tyres.

	Many roads are reasonably easy to navigate with a little care and will take you to most major attractions on the Island. Or if you fancy something a bit more challenging there are many less travelled roads through the island to test your skill.

Do be warned though, it's always best if travelling on less busy roads to do so with at least two cars and the appropriate recovery gear. Becoming bogged in the sand is common on the island. Four wheel drive vehicles can be hired from various companies in Hervey Bay and on the island but if you plan to hire from either place, don’t forget to book ahead!
