Before setting off for Hervey Bay don't forget to pack your lucky fishing rod and your tackle. Hervey Bay is renoun for its abundance of fish life and it is literally as easy as dangeling a line if your on the Urangan Pier.
Urangan Pier is perhaps the most popular fishing location in Hervey Bay as you can stand anywhere along its one killometre length and drop a line in over the side.
Hervey Bay has a diverse range of species in its waters including colourful Coral trout, Red Emperor, Sweetlip, Parrot Fish, Snapper, Baramundi, Beam, Sand Whiting, Flathead, Javlin Fish, Tailor, Cobia, Golden Trevally, Mackerel, Yellow and Blue Fin Tuna.

Even Blue Marlin and Sailfish can sometimes be caught on from the deep waters off the end of the Urangan Pier. There are several shops along the esplinard where you can pick up your fishing tackle or bait. Or if fishing is not your cup of tea or you just dont have any luck with it, there are plenty of fish and chip shops so you can stop and taste some of the local seafood Hervey Bay has on offer.
