About Us

We’re a family owned and operated business!  Dad, Mum and 2 teenage daughters made the migration north from Victoria over 24 years ago with a plan to try something new. Previously Dad was a quality assurance manager with a major construction company and has a masters in Engineering. Mum worked in Aged Care and is the common sense queen who keeps us all grounded. But they wanted something different and made the Sea Change to Hervey Bay thinking they might open a nursery (Dad has a keen green thumb) but the universe had other ideas. 

At the time the only way to see Fraser Island was to take your own 4WD or to book a backpacker group trip. So the thought was to offer an option for couples, friends, and family groups wanting to see Fraser Island their own way. We started Safari 4WD hire with two Suzuki 2-seater 4WD’s and some camping gear. We slowly started to grow our fleet of hire vehicles and found the best option was to offer automatic 4WD hire vehicles  - nowadays the Suzuki’s are long gone having been replaced with a mix of Landcruiser Wagons, Nissan Patrol and Prados. 

We’re proud to be a small family owned & operated business! We’ve had great times, hard times, and good times but along the way we’ve always had each other. Mum, Dad and the daughters still work in the business to this day. We even have a sister company offering one day and custom style guided tours Fraser Experience Tours for those who aren’t sure about driving themselves. We also have an amazing support team of office warriors, brilliant tour guides, magic mechanics and panelbeaters who run the workshop and keep everything moving. With them we can do what we do best - help visitors and locals choose their own adventure to see this amazing Island!
